If not, will only make Dozens and their Visa card a more attractive proposition…

I’m not sure this will (directly) affect us as users. Indeed, from a commercial perspective, a higher interchange fee would benefit Dozens as they’d get more every time a card is used in the EU.

The potential downsides are that these indirect costs get passed on - or EU merchants start to decline, or add a surcharge to, UK cards. Basically someone needs to pay the cost, and right now it’s EU merchants…

I would imagine that if Visa don’t follow, a 1.5% surcharge on MasterCard transactions is a real possibility…

Are Transferwise cards issued in the UK?

I’m sure it won’t come as a suprise to see that Visa have indeed followed MasterCard on this…
